Assam Tea has a rich, deep amber colour. It is known for its brisk, strong and malty character, making it a perfect tea. Assam teas are valued for their rich taste, bright liquors and are considered to be one of the choicest teas in the world. Assam is the largest contiguous tea-growing area in the world. Assam tea region is known for producing CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) variety of teas. Popular grades produced in Assam include the whole leaf, broken leaf, fanning’s and dust.
Preparation Time : 2 minutes
Boiling Time : 10 minutes
Serves : 4 servings (4 cups)
Ingredients :
2 cup (300 ml) Milk
2 Teaspoons Assam Tea
1 cup (approx. 100 ml) Water
2 Teaspoons Sugar
Directions :
1. Boil water in a saucepan.
2. Add sugar and Assam Tea in it and boil it for 3-4 minutes on medium flame.
3. Add milk and boil it over medium flame for 6-7 minutes or until bubble starts to rise.
4. You will see the change in color of the tea from milky shade to brown shade when it is ready.
5. Turn off the gas and strain tea in cups.
Tips and Variations :
1. If you like more creamy tea, then avoid water and use only milk. Mix milk, sugar and assam tea and boil them over low flame for 6 minutes.
2. If you do not like it to creamy, then use more water compared with milk.
3. Add ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and black pepper or tea masala while preparing it for nice flavorful tea.
Taste : Sweet and Hot
Serving Ideas : Serve it in the morning with breakfast or in the afternoon with evening snacks.
